Clare Rose

Relocating from Taranaki, Clare has continued to expand her creative medium from painting to sculpture.

Using reclaimed materials, her work is quiet, grounded, and innocent. Clare works from her home workshop surrounded by her animals and gardens.

The Shadow People series began as an exploration of presence rather than action. Made from reclaimed totara fence posts, the material carries its own history – weathered, worked and shaped by time before becoming sculpture.

The figures are intentionally minimal, allowing form, stance and surface to suggest character without defining it. They are open to interpretation, watchful, and companiable

Placed in gardens and outdoor spaces, Shadow People exist quietly alongside the living world. They do not demand attention or explanation.

Their purpose is to occupy space, to be noticed…or not.
