Melanie Bourn, know as M E L B O U R N, is an accomplished award winning NZ artist who as developed a unique style of abstract design within a contemporary pop art genre and is developing an impressive portfolio of works that that are a style of interpretive realism.
Melanie is based in Nelson and has exhibited since 2003 over many years in Wellington and Christchurch Art shows, Nelson galleries and by invitation various Awards exhibitions in the Nelson Marlborough Region and has secured many private commissions. Returning to New Zealand after living in North America to train as an Artisan Cheesemaker, she is delighted to participate again in the Tremains Art for All fundraiser for Napier Girls – a worthwhile means to return to the brush and canvas after a 5 year hiatus!
Melanie’s art is constantly evolving with the exploration of the Fine Art process whilst also able to create commercially. Inspired by themes of time, place and the juxtaposition of faith, political and societal influences through history, spontaneous use of colour, symbolic use of words and numbers with originality are distinct and continuing values in all her work.
