Heather Wilson

Heather Wilson enjoyed a happy carefree Kiwi childhood and finds a lot of her creativity is drawn from those memories, inspired by growing up in the late 60’s and 70’s her art often has a retro vibe.

Her art explores aspects of iconic New Zealand scenery and symbolism connected to her much loved geometric patterns from the 1970s. Her work is contemporary, an explosion of bold strong color and texture which is her distinctive trademark. Heather’s inspiration also comes from Gio-Ponti, Bisazza tiles, Yayoi Kusama, Comme des Garçons, Andy Warhol, and Piet Mondrian.

After several years in the corporate world, Heather decided to escape the daily grind and follow her dreams, becoming a full-time professional artist. Many people are interested to find out she has a double degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Otago University.
Each year Heather exhibits at The NZ Art Show in Wellington and Art in the Park in Auckland, and this year she exhibited her work abroad in Brisbane. She regularly exhibits at school shows, including Napier Girls High School where she was one of the founding
members of this art show!
