John Goodhind is an artist based in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, working across a range of media with a particular focus on watercolour. He studied art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury, UK, and later studied design in Staffordshire.
Since moving to New Zealand in 2006, John has exhibited both locally and nationally, including at the New Zealand Art Show and Splash Exhibition.
While his subject matter and mediums shift with his interests, watercolour has remained a constant since childhood. He is drawn to its demands – a direct, confident approach and a sharp eye for shape and tone. For John, it is the ideal medium to capture the light and character of New Zealand’s rural and built environments.
Alongside his practice, he teaches Art and Design at Taradale High School.
