John Goodhind lives in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay and is an artist who works in a variety of media, but his main interest is in watercolour.
John studied art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design at Canterbury (UK) and studied Design in Staffordshire. Since moving to New Zealand in 2006, he has exhibited locally and nationally, including the New Zealand Art Show, and Watercolour NZ’s annual Splash exhibition.
Although his subject matter and media vary with his interests, John has painted in watercolour since childhood. Watercolour is a challenge: it demands a forthright approach, and a keen observation of shape and tone to capture the essence of the subject. For John, it is the perfect medium for his interest in capturing the light and character of the New Zealand rural and built environment.
He teaches Art and Design at Taradale High School. Instagram: john.goodhind.art
