Lanie Wilton

Lanie is a Gisborne-based artist, qualified teacher and trained Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy (HICAT) practitioner.

With more than 20 years of painting and exhibiting experience, her work is deeply inspired by Aotearoa New Zealand’s natural beauty, emotional landscape, and the healing potential of creativity. Lanie’s practice spans beach scenes, word art and abstract mixed media, with recent works drawing on generational wisdom passed down through her grandmother, aunties and shared creatively with her young daughter.

Living on the East Coast has strongly influenced Lanie’s work, where the rhythms of coastal life, family and homegrown simplicity shape both her subject matter and materials. She often paints on reclaimed wood, surfboard blanks and canvas, embracing a mindful, intuitive approach. Alongside her art practice, Lanie facilitates creative healing resources, workshops and online offerings, using art as a pathway to connection, calm and self-expression.
