Linda Kirkland

Linda is an expressive abstract artist whose work moves away from realism, instead exploring inner landscapes shaped by memory, emotion and fleeting moments.

Her practice is intuitive and process-driven, with each piece unfolding through layers of paint and mixed media. Without a fixed plan, she builds texture, colour and form organically, responding to what emerges and allowing spontaneity to guide the direction of the work. Each painting becomes a dialogue, with marks added and adjusted until a sense of completion is reached.

Through her work, Linda seeks to evoke emotion and invite personal connection, encouraging viewers to find their own meanings, memories and moments of insight.

She is currently exhibiting at the Greytown Art Gallery. Previous exhibitions include Artbourne, Taranaki Art Awards, the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, Kotare Art, the New Zealand Art Show (2026) and the Aratoi Museum of Art and History. Her work is held in private collections around the world.
